GAS-FREE MEASUREMENTS OF FUMIGATED CONTAINERS
In order to prevent infestation of the cargo by vermin, sea containers are being treated with toxic substances (fumigation) in the country of origin (methyl bromide, formaldehyde). Nowadays, by international rules, more and more sea containers with dams and packaging wood are fumigated. It is very common that containers still have a dangerous quantity of toxic substances when arriving at the place of destination. In addition some (consumer) products absorb such quantities, that they exhale this for months after the fumigation with all risks involved.
In order to preserve safety to the employees who are in direct contact with these containers and to make sure that Customs can enter safely, a declaration must be submitted stating that containers are free from dangerous quantities of toxic substances.
CWM employs surveyors who are official GAS MEASURING EXPERTS. Declarations provided by CWM are valid as per EVOA (European Regulation).
